The Solar racer introduces the concept of using solar energy. The Photo Voltaic panel produces sufficient energy from sunlight to move the vehicle at brisk pace. A 60watt light bulb can also be used. The brighter the light, the faster the Solar Racer goes. The gearbox has variable ratios enabling students to experiment in finding the most suitable ratio to give the best speed to light ratio.
